Zoning Board of Adjustments · Meeting of September 2, 2026

NJ MONTVILLE — Montville's Zoning Board denied an iStar Realty storage container variance application on a 3-3 tied vote. The applicant sought to legalize six storage containers at its industrial facility at 34 Maple Avenue, which had been on site for approximately one year in violation of code. The application required five affirmative votes to pass; it received only three votes in favor.

Variances were needed for excessive floor area ratio, building coverage, and insufficient setbacks. The board also unanimously approved three variance resolutions for properties at 9 River Road, 28 Breton Drive, and 157 and 159 River Road, and authorized an additional $6,172.98 payment to board attorney Howard Pashman, bringing his total authorization to $26,172.98.
