Zoning board approves convenience store and gas station on Route 202

NJ MONTVILLE — Montville zoning board approves gas station, convenience store at Route 202 site. The board voted unanimously 7-0 on April 22 to grant NCK Distributors multiple variances for the project, which replaces an aging service station with auto repair operations. The applicant must work with the board's planning office on landscaping and site details, and establish an 11 p.m. closing time and prohibition on outdoor storage.

Environmental remedial specialist James Coyne testified that Sunoco has managed cleanup of petroleum releases from 1986, and the applicant will install modern double-walled underground fuel tanks with monitoring systems.
