Township introduces $1 million Condurso property cleanup and remediation plan

NJ MONTVILLE — Township Committee introduces $1 million remediation ordinance for Condurso property, clearing the path for long-term preservation and public use. Mayor Frank W. Cooney noted the 28-acre site, purchased at public auction in September 2025, prevents high-density development that would cost millions more and strain municipal services.
The committee unanimously approved submission of a Morris County Historic Preservation Grant application for the Henry Doremus House with $5,960 township match and authorized a $13,700 architectural evaluation contract with Anthony Garrett, A.I.A., LEED AP. Township Attorney Dawn Sullivan reported a judge approved the town's 4th round affordable housing plan on March 23, granting full municipal compliance and immunity from exclusionary zoning liability.
