Planning Board clears Good Shepherd Church subdivision after testimony on variances

Planning Board · Meeting of June 11, 2026

NJ MONTVILLE — Planning Board approves Good Shepherd Church subdivision with buffer conditions. The Montville Planning Board unanimously approved a minor subdivision with variances for Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, requiring landscape-buffer planting to screen the church from a new residential lot. Engineer Cory VanderValk and Planner Donna Holmqvist testified that the variances were necessary due to right-of-way easements on Two Bridges Road and Pine Brook Road.

The board separately found two redevelopment plans consistent with the Master Plan: a warehouse project at 17 Chapin Road on the former Star Ledger site, and another spanning Main Road, Daldunn Road, and River Road from a prior settlement; public hearings follow June 23.
