Montville swears in Cooney as mayor, Kayne as deputy mayor

NJ MONTVILLE — Montville reorganizes with Cooney as mayor, Kayne as deputy. Frank W. Cooney was elected mayor and Matthew S.
Kayne as deputy mayor for 2026, with all four present committee members voting unanimously for both positions; Chris Fano, a newly elected committeeman, also took oath of office. The township maintained its AAA bond rating from Standard & Poor's and reported a 2.52 percent tax-levy increase for 2025. Major accomplishments included Route 46 redevelopment with Wawa and Paul Miller Toyota, the police department's 100th anniversary, and the October acquisition of nearly 30 acres along River Road, bringing total preserved land to 3,060 acres or 25 percent of the municipality.
The committee adopted 59 resolutions authorizing appointments, professional services contracts, and administrative measures.
